Research in the College of Food Science and Biology focuses on major scientific issues for national economic development in the field of biological science and engineering and food. The college has strong science and technology innovation ability, as it emphasizes both on fundamental research and applied technology, and adheres to the industry-university-research cooperative innovation. Research support comes from a variety of resources including major special projects of "the 12th Five-Year Plan", "863" plan, state supported plan, National Natural Science Foundation. Recent achievements include five honors of "the Awards of State Science and Technology Progress", 92 papers indexed by SCI, and 60 authorized patents. The college has Hebei Research Center of Fermentation Engineering Technology, which is the industry technology innovation strategic alliance member unit of the ministry of science and technology of antibiotics and vitamins, provides strong support for the discipline development and professional personnel training, and is one of the important bases in the field in Hebei province for scientific research and academic exchanges.
